Jalauna is the founder of Eyes Set On, an organization dedicated to mentoring and inspiring youth all over the world. She is also known for her most recent book, “Eyes Set On, Being” - a workbook designed to help teens and young adults navigate their being through self-reflection.

During Asanté's career as a School Resource Officer (SRO) in an urban school district on the verge of a state takeover, he discovered his passion for empowering Black youth. He became the schools’ football coach, role model, and mentor. This was a front-row seat into the battle Black youth were facing: a broken school system, broken homes, and broken communities. In efforts to create a solution, he founded “Black Men of Valor” to create a haven where Black men could establish a brotherhood built on mentorship, career development, and progressive deliberations.

As a former athlete, Jarrod is active within the sports tech community, serving as a mentor with the leAD Sports Accelerator and the Athlete Development Lab. After transitioning into venture, Jarrod has continually sought out opportunities to create access to capital and education for underrepresented founders and is always looking to connect with diverse founders, community managers, VCs, and those looking to make a difference.

Our special guest is Joy Cho. She is a pastry chef based in Brooklyn, NY. She studied political science at UChicago before moving out to the east coast, attended pastry school at the Institute of Culinary Education while working a day job, and fully switched over to pastry work in 2019. She externed at Oxalis, a one Michelin star Brooklyn bistro and worked as a pastry cook at Gramercy Tavern, an iconic restaurant in NYC's Flatiron district, before losing her job due to COVID-19 in March 2020.

Joy then launched an Instagram business, Joy Cho Pastry, and most recently developed a product called Gem Cakes that are available for purchase in the NYC area. Joy's writing/recipes have appeared in Basically, Food52, and Bon Appétit, and she has been mentioned by Grub Street, Eater, and Food & Wine. She was also recently featured in a New York Times article.

Eric is also the author of the eye-opening book, The Well-Being Guide: Making the Most of Life and Work. Based on personal experiences and as a follow-up to his 2008 book, Waking Up in Corporate America, the guide is practical and offers readers the opportunity to evaluate their own lives through self-discovery.
